Composting Latrine

With the same funds used for the construction of the Solar Center, Solar Women of Totogalpa (SWT) created a Clivus Multrum type of composting latrine. With the help of a civil engineering student, Edwin Pérez, and a volunteer, Leanne Robinson, the women designed and constructed a latrine using appropriate renewable technology that not only resolves the issue of human excrement but transforms it into organic compost material, which has a useful purpose in agriculture or gardening.
