Reintegration of landmine victims
The project of reintegration through work in renewable energy began in conjunction with the Program of Alternative Energy Sources of the National Engineering University (PAES/NEU) in 1999. The
objective of the project was to train landmine victims in the production and installation of photovoltaic panels to generate employment and use of alternative energy sources in communities that
had no access to electricity. Solar Women of Totogalpa (SWT) was created by the women in Sabana Grande who realized that solar energy can also be used for cooking, thus,
forming their group around the use of solar cookers and dryers and the promotion of sustainable development.
